KANGOL X TADANORI YOKOO

Tadanori Yokoo is a legendary Japanese graphic designer, illustrator, and painter celebrated for his vibrant fusion of traditional Japanese motifs and Western pop iconography. His signature psychedelic has had a lasting impact on contemporary visual culture, helping to redefine graphic design. Rejecting modernist minimalism, Yokoo embraced bold, chaotic compositions throughout a prolific career spanning posters, album covers for artists such as Miles Davis and Santana, and fine art.

Inspired by a Picasso retrospective, Yokoo shifted his focus from design to painting, creating works rich in autobiographical and spiritual themes that explore life, death, and transcendence. He is a recipient of the prestigious Praemium Imperiale, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of the Arts,” awarded by the Japan Art Association on behalf of the Imperial family. His work is held in major institutions globally, and his legacy is celebrated at the Yokoo Tadanori Museum of Contemporary Art in Kobe, Japan.
